Since Antiquity, Morocco has always been a privileged ground for vine and wine. Throughout centuries, vine appeared and disappeared periodically according to the history of North Africa. At the end of the 19th century, vine was damaged in Europe by phylloxera. Some French vine growers immigrated to Morocco and contributed to expand the vineyard. Created in 1923, the “Domaine des Ouled Thaleb” is nowadays the oldest winery still active in Morocco. The first grape harvest was in 1927. Thalvin was created in 1968 and cultivates since then the vineyards of “Domaine des Ouled Thaleb” planted at that time with European grape varieties.
