Chateau Musar

Based in Bekaa Valley in Lebanon, Chateau Musar was founded by Gaston Hochar in 1930, inspired by his travels to Bordeaux and 6,000 years of Lebanese wine history. His son, Serge, was named Decanter Magazine’s first “Man of the Year”, during the Lebanese Civil War in 1984, for his efforts in perfecting the formula for Musar Red. The estate is now run by Gaston and Marc, sons of Serge.

The winery was the first to gain organic certification in Lebanon. For Chateau Musar range, Cabernet Sauvignon and Southern Rhone varieties of Cinsault and Carignan make up the Red, while Obaideh and Merwah, ancient and indigenous varieties make up the White. Their grapes are grown naturally with a “non-interventionist” philosophy, producing organic wines from the outset.

“Chateau Musar has an incredible aging potential. Memorable, exciting, a revelation” – Michael Broadbent
